Introduction | Jessica "Jess" Quinn
Jul. 31st, 2013 10:47 pm[Bio:]Jessica “Jess” Quinn has always had a seemingly perfect life. Her life was anything but perfect. When she was twelve years old the universe ripped her father from her life. Losing your hero does something to a person, something that you never really recover from. The death of her beloved father didn’t just affect her. Her two older brothers Theodore and Sebastian, they handled the pain differently. Sebastian completely shut down, not talking to anyone. He threw himself into basketball. Theodore, much like his father, had always dreamed of seeing the world. The day he turned eighteen he enlisted into the Army. The person, who took the loss of their father the worst, was Patricia, the mother of the three children. It wasn’t long after losing Henry that she found husband number two and the first in a string of marriages. Each husband wealthier than the last and with each marriage Patricia changed, as one does. She became the catty perfectionist she was in high school looking for pet projects. Her favorite project became her daughter.
Since her father’s death and the marriage’s that followed, Jess and her mother had what one might call a strained relationship. All her mother could see when she looked at her daughter were flaws that needed to be fixed. She laughed a little too loudly. She chewed on her cheek when she was nervous. She was ALWAYS playing with her hair. Had it not been for her older brothers, the falling out the two would eventually had might have happened sooner. Theodore and Sebastian were only a few years older than Jess but it felt like lifetimes. It even felt like they went to different high schools. The boys saw the glamorous side, the life as a jock. Sebastian was God’s gift to basketball. It consumed his life from the first day of freshman year, all the way up to graduation. After Sebastian’s graduation he went to Duke where he met and married the love of his life, Maisey, and would later have a son. Theodore was known for his throwing arm. He played football in the fall and baseball in the spring. After Theo’s graduation he was first in line to join the army, knowing that is where he belonged.
Jessica had a slightly different high school experience. While she wasn’t the most popular, then again in a town as small as Ashwick everyone knew everyone anyway. She was a good student and she worked her butt off because she knew from day one that her ticket out of Ashwick would be a college. So when her senior year rolled around and she was accepted into NYU Art School, she jumped on the chance. It wasn’t that she hated where she came from, she just knew there was more to this life then getting married and having babies. There was adventure to be had and she was going to have it and never look back.
Her life in New York wasn’t everything she had hoped it would be. After her graduation from college she lived in a tiny apartment she could barely afford. When she wasn’t working on her portfolio she was working of of her two jobs. She was a bartender by night and a waitress by day. It wasn’t everything she had dreamed, no but it wasn’t a terrible life. She got to live in the greatest city in the work, or at least right outside of it. The only time Ashwick Grove crossed her mind was when she returned for her brother’s wedding, and her nephews birth. Both stays were short and sweet. Each time she returned she remembered why she left. She was happy with her life and didn’t plan on changing it. That’s the thing about life though, we don’t plan it, we live it.
Six years, almost to the day that she left Ashwick Grove, he older brother, Sebastian and his wife were in a terrible car accident. They and their four year old son, Aiden were coming home from a visit with his mother when their car was hit. Things had looked up for a moment, they thought Sebastian might pull through. That wasn’t the case. The last thing he ever said to his sister was to take care of Aiden. So that is why she returned to Ashwick Grove after six years. To raise her nephew despite the fact she has no clue what she is doing…
